Sportcarriere is assisting his international client in the recruitment of a Wayfinding Logistics and Operations Manager for a major sport event happening in France this summer, on fixed-term contract.

The Wayfinding Logistics and Operations Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of the Look, Signage and Wayfinding project of this major event across all venues (competition and non- competition) as designed by the organisers.

The role is not venue operations during the live phase of the event, our critical operational period is during build and bump-in, however, our period of high intensity operations will be from Mid June to Mid September. Planning for this phase will require planning and management skills combined with a deep understanding of how to get things done in a major international sporting event environment.

Functions & Responsibilities
  • This role is reporting to the Operations Lead.
  • Establish a functioning warehouse operation for support of wayfinding operations
  • Responsible for the logistic operations and support for delivery of the project
  • Establish relationships with suppliers
  • Integrate the production schedule with the delivery schedule with site “build and Bump-in” schedules
  • Learn and adapt our systems to book transportation
  • Close working relationships with the warehouse teams to prepare the venue loads ready for dispatch to venue
  • Working alongside the venue teams to understand trucking requirements materials.
  • Book mechanical handling requirements in venue
  • Ensure the suppliers and drivers understand the process for access and accreditation.
  • Manage the VAPPS and MDS requirements (with the ops team execs)
  • Advise & research the product specifications to be aligned with the sustainability objectives.
  • Working engineers and manufacturers for installation and logistics of temporary structures
  • Ensure all products are ‘fit for purpose”
  • Integration with the venues team to receive scope information to prepare for production.
  • Data integration and management for production within Quest.
  • Build relationships with suppliers to ensure quality control and regular reporting procedures.
  • Identify risks within the operational supply chain, provide mitigating solutions and options.
  • Create close working relationships with the client personnel in each venue to facility project requirements
  • Provision of all details to the operations team (to enable the booking of crews, equipment and deliveries)
  • Apply practical solutions to problems that arise.
  • Input data onto Quest and other IT systems.
  • Manage budget controls to maintain the expected margins within the supply chain.
  • Management of client expectations through clear communication and co-ordination: creating presentations and documents for the client.
  • Support the Social and Sustainability manage to engage our team in our social purpose ambitions and the second life and legacy of the Look of the event.
Profile Requirements
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management processes and procedures.
  • Experience and working knowledge of materiel logistics and operational support (managing trucking companies etc)
  • Good working knowledge of site operations and brand opportunities (how to get things done).
  • Understand material types and purposes (what works where)
  • Direct work experience in a project management capacity or equivalent.
  • Experience in the operational planning, organisation and problem solving with great attention to detail in multi-sport international events.
  • Excellent communication and team building skills.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Creative thinker able to problem solve and provide innovative solutions to client briefs.
  • Ability to prioritise and think logically and methodically.
  • A “hands on” “can do” attitude with an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (especially in Microsoft Excel & PPT) and Smartsheet proficiency.
  • Ability to work in databases
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite will be highly valued.
  • Fluent French and good english level.

Contract type : Temporary Contract – Full Time / Open to full time freelances with a monthly fee
Location : Saint-Denis (Paris region)
Starting date : ASAP – Ending 30.09.2024
Salary : Depending on the profile + a 10% completion bonus – An accomodation in downtown Paris will be provided for residents living outside the Paris region
