Sportcarriere is assisting his international client in the recruitment of a Venue Wayfinding Lead for a major sport event happening in France next year on temporary contract.

Role

The Venue Wayfinding Lead will be responsible for the successful delivery of the Look, Signage and Wayfinding project across all venues (competition and non-competition) as designed by the clients.

This is a unique occasion for a highly experienced executive to join a world-class team of experts to deliver a once in a lifetime project.

Functions & Responsibilities
  • Managing a team of 4 full time WFS (Workforce Staff) managers (plus a FA signage manager)
  • Manage the change control and updating process of requests from the client
  • Responsibility for budget control within the parameters provided.
  • Close liaison with the production manager responsible for WFS.
  • Appoint with Ops Lead and Project Director key suppliers to implement the scheme.
  • Manage the data provided by the client to define the scope of works
  • Direct the team to verify the request from the client (locations and bespoke signs)
  • Daily tasking of the WFS project team.
  • Work closely with programme manager to understand the “decision horizon” and plan the actions of your team accordingly.
  • Be prepared to “accept” more team members (ie. if additional venues/tasks are required).
  • Align the schedule & responsibilities for scoping requirements, ensuring all the team are training and are prepared to do the task in hand
  • Ensure training of the team on Quest and other IT systems.
  • Work in tandem with “Data” to ensure all the correct information from the team is logged on Quest.
  • Apply accuracy and consistency to scope books (leading to the installation manuals)
  • Apply practical reality and leadership to the venue team.
  • Review and comment on the scope of works to identify gaps and reconcile assumptions.
  • Integrating the operations of all contractual obligations : Look, Wayfinding, FA signage.
  • Responsible for all project areas : design, production, installation and derig.
  • Responsible to assess all venue operations: feasibility, scope, risks, budget, asset listing, on site management, H&S.
  • Liaise with the operations and planning team to schedule the install, transitions, and de-rig at each venue (venue managers gather the information, need assure the details are with planning team)
  • Work alongside Project Director to present reports (project status, risks management and budget control).
  • Building strong and trusted relationships with key decision makers in the project, face to face meetings with the client are essential part of the process to ensure quicker decisions.
  • There will be close liaison with the clients teams, a deep understanding of roles and responsibility will be critical (to avoid mission creep), alongside the Project Director.
  • Understand the risks and manage a risk register within your “sphere of influence” to enable the wider team to mitigate those risks.
  • Management of client expectations through clear communication.
  • Engage with the sustainability teams to define and deliver “second life” and other downstream solutions.
  • Quality assurance at all times.This is your team, provide motivation, support and leadership to maintain project momentum.
Profile Requirements
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management processes and procedures.
  • Previous experience of large Wayfinding and Signage projects, understanding the complexity and importance of the project.
  • Direct work experience in a project management capacity or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in people management, including leadership, delegation and influencing.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, organisation and problem solving with great attention to detail in multi-sport international events.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in design of Look, Signage and Wayfinding for multi-sports events (at least in 3 international multi-sports events).
  • Excellent communication and team building skills.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills.

  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Creative thinker able to problem solve and provide innovative solutions to client briefs.
  • Ability to prioritise and think logically and methodically.
  • A “hands on” “can do” attitude with an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially in Microsoft Excel) and Smartsheet proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite will be highly valued.
  • French and english speaker.
