Located within the Paris municipality, in the heart of the Bois de Vincennes, INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance) is a public institution of scientific, cultural and professional character (EPSCP) development overseen by the Ministry of Sports.

With more than 300 agents and over 150 permanent coaches, INSEP is responsible particularly  for providing the elite athletes of France  with optimal conditions to participate in both physical training and academic, professional or university training.

Selected based upon performance criteria by individual Federations, nearly 600 sportsmen and women are hosted daily in 22 different French areas of expertise.

Compliant to the provisions of the decree n°2009- 1454 of November 25, 2009 relating to the national institute of the sport, expertise and performance, “it favors, by its expertise, the diffusion of good practice and contributes to the coherent development, pooling of resources and activities within a national network devoted to high-level sport and constituted, in particular, by the other national public institutions of the ministry responsible for sports and structures grouped together in sports excellence”.
